Shiver - Chapter 11
Chapter 11
Friday night found Grissom going through his closet and tossing clothing haphazardly around the room. Nothing looked good to him. He wanted tonight to be perfect and he was having a difficult time choosing the right outfit. He finally settled on a blue shirt that highlighted his eyes, black pants, gray tie, and a black blazer. As he was dressing, he noticed his hands were trembling. He desperately tried to calm himself, but he found it difficult. ‘Damn, I wasn’t this nervous on my first date’, he thought. He managed to get his tie knotted, but it took two tries to do so. When he was finally finished, he looked at himself in the mirror. What he saw worried him. He saw an older man, slightly soft in the middle and going gray. He marveled that Catherine would want him. His thoughts were cut short when his cell phone rang.
“Grissom,” he said as he juggled the phone against his ear as he was trying to run a comb through a few unruly locks of hair.
Gil?” Catherine’s voice was calm and soft.
“Hey. What’s up?”
“I just wanted to hear your voice. And maybe see if you were going to be here soon.”
Grissom nervously chuckled, “I’m on my way. I had a bit of a problem.”
Her voice changed to one of concern. “A problem? What’s the matter?”
Grissom went out the front door as he quietly replied, “I couldn’t figure out what to wear.”
“You’re nervous, aren’t you?”
Gil could almost hear her smiling on the other end of the phone. “Yes,” he sheepishly replied as he got in the car. “I just want everything to be perfect for you.”
“Gil, I love you. I just want to be with you. Just you - everything else is just bonus.”
“Thanks, Cath.” He checked the passenger seat to make sure the flowers he had chosen for her were still there. Starting the car he said, “I’ll be there in about 15 minutes. See you then.”
“I’ll be waiting.”
“Love you,” he said closing the cell phone.
Catherine closed her phone and stood in front of the mirror in her bedroom. It was happening. Things seemed to finally be working out in her life. She was comforted in an odd sort of way by the fact that Grissom was nervous, because she was nervous too. Catherine wanted to please him, wanted, as he did for her, everything to be perfect.
After ringing her doorbell, Grissom bounced from foot to foot as he impatiently waited for her to answer. He looked down at the bouquet of red roses, hoping they weren’t too obvious. He wanted to express his love and so had chosen these, which he had knew were the ultimate expression of a person’s love for another. He was looking at the flowers when the door quietly opened.
Catherine was dressed in a short black dress with spaghetti straps. Across the bust was intricate embroidered detail of flowers in reds and greens. Her hair was pinned up, a few curls of strawberry blonde hair having escaped the bun. “Hi.”
Grissom’s head jerked up when he heard her soft, melodious voice. The vision standing in front of him took his breath away. The dress showed just enough skin to whet his appetite, but not enough to be distasteful. She was gorgeous.
“These are for you,” he stammered holding out the roses.
Her eyes lit up in surprise. “Thank you. They’re beautiful.” Taking the roses in one hand, Catherine reached out with her other and clasped his hand. “Come in while I put them in water.”
Grissom followed her into her home. He watched the sway of her hips as she walked in front of him. ‘She’s enchanting me,’ he marveled.
Once Catherine had placed the roses in a vase with some water, she picked up her purse and turned to him. “Ready when you are.”
“After you, my dear,” he said as he let her step in front of him again. Gently, he placed his hand on the small of her back and escorted her through the house.
Catherine felt a tingle run up her spine as she felt his palm against her back. She remembered how he used to do that at the lab - like he would use any excuse just to touch her. “It’s been a while since you’ve done that.”
“It has. Too long,” he replied as he closed the door behind him. Grissom followed her to his Mercedes and helped her get settled. Walking around to the other side, he got in and said, “I hope you like where I picked. I was told it’s very good.”
“I’m sure I’ll love it. And remember what I told you. Everything else apart from you is bonus.”
The drive to the restaurant went by quickly. When they arrived at Perry’s Catherine let out a small gasp. The building was gorgeous. It was an old stucco building that looked like it had been built in the 1930’s. A valet quickly came out and helped her out of the car, while another ran out to get Grissom’s keys.
Catherine turned to face Grissom. “Gil, it’s beautiful.”
“I’ve been told Perry’s is the place to go, so here we are. I hope the food and music are as good as it was hyped up to be.”
She slipped her hand into his. “Bonus.”
Hand-in-hand they walked into the dimly lit restaurant. Grissom could hear the soft strains of jazz playing in the distance. When they reached the maitre’d he gave the man his name. They were quickly seated in a booth that had dark red curtains which could be closed for privacy.
“Your waiter will be here momentarily,” the man said before he quickly moved off.
Catherine squeezed Grissom’s hand. “This is beautiful.”
“I’m glad you like. I wasn’t sure what to expect. I was just told it was very nice.”
“I’m so glad we can finally do this.”
Reaching across the table, he laid his other hand atop their already joined ones and replied, “Me too. I wish it hadn’t taken us this long to get here.”
“The point is that we’re here,” she murmured. “We’re somewhere that I’ve wanted to be for a really long time and it’s just as wonderful as I thought it would be.”
The waiter arrived and took their wine order. When he hurried away, Grissom looked at her and said, “Catherine, I need to ask this and I hope I don’t ruin the evening, but have you told your shrink about us? What was his response?”
“You’re not ruining the evening. And yes, I told him. He said that he was okay with it and that he wants me to be careful.”
“I’m glad, Catherine. I just want you happy.” His thumb gently caressed the back of her hand.
“I am happy. I’m happier than I’ve been in a long time.”
They were gazing in each others eyes, when the waiter arrived with their wine. After pouring it, he rattled off the dinner specials and waited for them to make their selections.
Catherine looked up at Gil and smiled. “I think I’ll have the calamari.”
Grissom smiled when he heard her suggestion. It reminded him of the Barger case and their discussion at the marina. He knew she had always wondered who he had brought there for calamari and beer. “I’ll have the blackened sea bass,” he told the waiter with a slight smirk on his face.
After the waiter left, Catherine began to speak. “I took Lindsey to the sleepover at Kelsey’s. She was looking forward to it.”
“I’m glad.”
“And I talked to her - about us.”
“How did she take it?”
“I explained to her that I loved you very much and that you loved me. I promised her that I’m not trying to replace Eddie and I promised that I’m never going back to the place I was ever again. And, once she understood how I felt, she was okay with it.”
“You don’t think she’ll have second thoughts when she sees me hanging around more than I normally do?”
“I told her that I wanted you in my life and that you were going to be around more than you used to. I even said that maybe you might spend the nights sometimes. Apart from a disgusted look at that idea, she seemed okay.”
Grissom smiled at the thought of Lindsey’s disgusted look. He could imagine it looked just like her mothers.
“Gil, after dinner, when you take me home…I want you to stay.”
Surprised, but pleased at her request, he asked, “Are you sure?”
She nodded. “Very sure. I want this and I want you very much.”
A shiver went down Grissom’s spine when he heard her words, “I want you too. More than you know.”
Catherine smiled at him and bit her lip. “We uh…better change the subject now if we want to finish dinner.”
Grissom chuckled and quickly moved onto different things. They were discussing the latest forensics journal when their food arrived. The waiter carefully placed the dishes in front of them and moved off.
“This smells heavenly,” Catherine murmured, looking at the calamari on her plate.
Grissom watched her as she lifted the fork to her lips and bit down on the calamari. The fork slid across her luscious lips and he had to stifle a small groan. The images of her lips wrapped around other things flitted across his mind. ‘Down boy,’ he thought.
Catherine saw the look in his eyes and she smiled. “Eat your dinner, Gil.”
Grissom’s cheeks turned red at her words and he sheepishly looked down at his plate. The food smelled and looked delicious. Taking a bite, he let the flavor of the sea bass flood his mouth.
After swallowing he asked, “Is yours as good as mine?”
“Well, I think it’s wonderful.” Catherine held a piece up on her fork. “Want a taste?”
Grissom nodded. She carefully leaned forward and fed him a sliver of her calamari. After he ate the small bite, he forked a piece of his sea bass and gently fed her a small bite. He watched as a smile flitted across her face.
“Good?” he asked.
“Perfect,” she replied. A wicked grin crossed her face. “I think it was the delivery that did it.”
They spent the remainder of the meal feeding each other bits of their food and sips of their wine. When they were finished, Grissom pushed back from the table and asked her, “Would you like to dance before dessert?”
Catherine nodded. “I’d love to.”
Slipping his hand into hers he led her to the softly lit dance floor. As the slow, mellow jazz tune filled the air, Grissom wrapped his arm around her slender waist and cradled her small hand in his. Together, they began to sway to the music. Together, they began to sway to the music.
Catherine rested her head on his shoulder, closing her eyes as the music engulfed them. She tenderly stroked his hand with her thumb as they danced together.
Their bodies molded together perfectly. Hips rubbed deliciously and soon Grissom had to pull back from her or he would be thoroughly embarrassed. Looking down at the beautiful redhead in his arms, he said, “I love you, Catherine.”
Catherine looked up at him. “I love you too, Gil.” Her fingers caressed his cheek. “I’m happy to skip dessert if you want.”
“Only if that’s what you want. I want this evening to be all about you,” he smiled down at her.
She leant up and kissed him tenderly. “I’m suddenly not very hungry.”
Grissom returned the kiss with an eagerness that surprised her. The kiss was demanding, but gentle at the same time. It spoke of love and desire. Breaking off he said, “Let’s go home.”
When they arrived at Catherine’s home, she unlocked the front door and they went inside. She locked the door once more and took off her coat and put her purse on the table in the foyer. Turning to face him, she smiled nervously. “Here, let me get your coat.”
Grissom watched as her hands slid up the lapels of his jacket and then pushed the garment off his shoulders. He smiled when she turned to hang the jacket on the coat rack, but accidentally dropped it. It made him realize she was just as nervous as he was about what would happen next.
“Here let me,” he said reaching down and picking the jacket up off the floor. Quickly he put it on the rack and turned back to her.
Catherine smiled bashfully and took his hand. “Come with me.” She led him upstairs, stopping in front of her bedroom door.
Grissom stepped in front of her and graciously opened the door. To Catherine’s surprise, he scooped her into his arms and carried her to the bed. She was gently dropped down on it, and he stood back, smiling at her.
Her eyes softened as she looked up to him, and her eager hands reached for him.
As he lowered his body to her waiting arms, he gently kissed her.
Catherine’s arms encircled his neck, her body welcoming his weight above her. She could feel the warmth of his body through his clothes, and she wanted more than anything to feel his skin against hers. She deepened the kiss, her tongue tracing across the seam of his lips and eagerly seeking entrance.
When Grissom opened his mouth to her, he also opened his soul. He returned everything that he was feeling, the love, the desire, and need, with the kiss. This woman set him on fire and he wanted her to know that. He wanted her to feel his passion.
Catherine moaned into the kiss, feeling heat building up in her belly. She lifted her hips against his, feeling his desire for her. She ran her hands down his back, and finally rested them on his butt, pushing him closer to her body.
Grissom dragged his lips from hers and stared down into her darkened blue eyes. Reaching a trembling hand up, he pushed a lock of red hair from her face. “God, what you do to me,” he reverently whispered before lowering his lips to her neck. He nipped, laved and sucked his way down to her collar bone.
Catherine’s fingers tightened against his body as his lips moved down her neck. “Don’t stop….god, don’t stop…” Her entire body felt like it was going to explode with arousal, and his words spurred her desire on.
A soft sigh left Grissom’s lips as he pulled away from her eager arms. He helped her sit up and then he reached behind her. Gently he lowered the zip on her dress. The sound of the zipper was loud in the room and it caused him to smile. The amusement quickly gave way to wonder as the straps slid from her arms and the bodice of the dress pooled around her waist.
“Catherine, you are amazing,” he reverently told her as his eyes eagerly took in her bare breasts.
She reached out and took his hand, tenderly placing it on her left breast. Her eyes closed at the sensation of his big hands touching her sensitive skin.
The nipple pebbled under his palm. Pushing her back on the bed, his hand never left her breast. He continued to massage and pinch the hardened nub.
Catherine groaned at his ministrations. It had been so long since someone had touched her like this and to have the someone being Grissom - it brought a whole new dimension to what they were doing.
Her groan made the fire in his veins run even hotter. The desire to taste the beauty below him was overwhelming and he lowered his lips to her breast. Pulling that taut nipple into his mouth, he gently grazed his teeth over it and then soothed away the small hurt by laving it with his tongue.
Her fingers toyed with the curls of his hair and she arched against him as the desire from his attentions shot straight to her centre. “Gil…”
Looking up he saw the desire in her eyes. “Yes?”
She was aching to touch him. “Let me take your shirt off.”
He didn’t want to leave the siren’s call of her breasts, but he knew the feel of her touch would be worth it. Pulling back from her, he sat up.
Catherine sat up also, and her fingers trembled as they undid the buttons of his shirt. She pushed the material away, allowing him to shrug it off his shoulders. Then her hands palmed his chest. She rested her cheek against the warm skin, smiling as she felt his sharp intake of breath.
The touch of her fingers and the feel of her cheek against his chest felt divine. Her touch was feather soft against him and he marveled at it.
When Catherine moved again, it was to press a tender kiss to his chest before standing up. She allowed the dress to fall from her body, so that she was clad in nothing but black panties. Returning to Grissom, she knelt before him and pressed a long, hot kiss to his lips.
Pulling back from her probing tongue, Grissom growled, “Stand up, again. I want to look at you.”
Catherine nodded and stood up beside the bed. Her chest was heaving with arousal but her cheeks reddened under his gaze.
Grissom stood and walked around her. His eyes took in every freckle, every bump, and every fine line. He traced a finger across her shoulder blades and ran it down her spine to the top of her panties. His finger never left her panty line as he stepped in front of her. “You’re gorgeous, Catherine,” he said as he knelt in front of her. Gently he worked the lacy, black material down her legs. He took her hand and placed it on his shoulder, so she could balance herself as she stepped out of the garment. When she was fully undressed, he remained kneeling in front of her. Using his tongue and teeth he worked his way up her legs until he reached the downy, red curls covering her sex. He inhaled her musky scent and then used his tongue to part her nether lips.
Catherine’s hand gripped tightly to his shoulder as she tried to anchor herself against the intense pleasure he was bringing her. The feel of his tongue probing her wetness was intoxicating, and she was finding it difficult to remain standing.
He could feel her legs trembling and the shudders racking her body. Reaching around her slim waist, he pulled her tighter to him as he increased his ministrations.
“Gil…oh god….I can’t…”
“Yes, you can.” The aching need in her voice spurred Grissom on in his quest to bring this beautiful woman tumbling over the edge.
Catherine’s head arched back as intense waves of heat rolled over her. She trembled against his body, feeling her legs collapse beneath her. Pulling back, he maintained his tight hold on her as he watched the pleasure over take her. He waited until she had settled and then he stood up. Wrapping his arms around her, he kissed her deeply.
Catherine returned the kiss, her arms holding him tightly against her. She slid her hands to rest on his biceps and she moved back from the kiss, her eyes looking into his. “Let’s get you caught up.”
Grissom’s hands went to his belt buckle and he was beginning to undo it when he felt her small hands settle on top of his. Looking at her, he arched an eyebrow in a silent question.
She smiled at him, kissing his lips tenderly. “Let me. Please.”
He dropped his hands and watched as she knelt down in front of him.
Catherine’s hands undid the buckle of his belt and then carefully unzipped his pants. She pushed them down, letting him use her for balance as he stepped out of them. Her hand cupped him through his boxers and her eyes raised upwards to see his reaction. She smiled and decided that she wanted more. Catherine eased his boxers over his erection and helped him step out of them. Then she rocked back on her heels and simply looked. Her hand reached out and she ran one finger along the underside of his arousal.
Grissom sucked in a huge lungful of air when he felt her finger sliding against him. He desperately wanted her to touch him, to feel him, to taste him, but he was willing to follow her lead. Patiently he waited for her next move.
She finally encircled her hand around his erection, stroking the sensitive skin. After placing a kiss to the head, she slowly took him inside her mouth. Soon, she was bobbing her head up and down the length of his manhood.
Carefully, he wound his hands through her silken tresses. He didn’t push her against him, but he needed to touch her as she pleasured him.
Catherine moaned at the feel of his fingers against her scalp and she moved her hands to the insides of his thighs, tenderly caressing the warm flesh. Slowly she used one hand to massage his testicles, while the other began to softly pump up and down on his erection in time with her talented lips.
Soon Grissom was moaning and groaning, his hips jerking against her. He pulled away from her with an audible pop. “Cath, stop. Please.”
Catherine looked up at him and nodded, before standing up before him and taking his hand. She led him back to the bed and she lay down on it, waiting for him to join her.
He gazed at her form and what a sight it was to behold. Her legs were slightly spread, her chest flushed with arousal, and her eyes stormy with desire. Lowering himself between her spread legs, he rubbed his erection over her slick core.
She moaned, her hands running up his arms. “Gil…now…please…”
Hearing the huskiness in her voice, spurred him on. Gazing into her eyes, he watched them darken even more as he carefully thrust inside her. When he was fully sheathed, he paused to watch her. Grissom took in her flushed features and hard breathing. It amazed him that he was the one to get her in such a state. What had he done to deserve this woman? In this instant, he knew that making love with Catherine would never be what it was when he had sex with Sara. The difference was the love. The connection. The joining of souls.
“Catherine, I’m so glad you’re mine,” he whispered as he slowly began to move within her.
She was breathing heavily, the intensity of him being a part of her overwhelming the senses. He was filling her, completing her, and taking love making to a new level. “I’ve always been yours,” she whispered back, wrapping her legs around his waist. “Always.”
Their lovemaking was a completion of two lost souls; souls that had been looking for each other for years. Soft sighs and moans of pleasure filled their ears as they took and gave to each other.
Years of unspoken desire were fueling the fire between them, and the intensity of being one and complete was overtaking their senses. Catherine looked up at Gil, her fingers clutching his shoulders as she felt the pressure inside her about to burst. He smiled at her and nuzzled her neck, whispering “Take me with you.”
Pleasure radiated outwards as they reached orgasm together. Gentle words of love were spoken as their bodies rode out the waves and ebbed to a delicious throbbing that brought an overwhelming feel of completion.
Afterwards as they lay tangled together, Catherine snuggled closer and pressed a kiss to his chest. “I love you, Gil.”
Pulling her against him, he knew this was a feeling he would never tire of. The feeling of being loved. “I love you too,” he replied placing a gentle kiss on the top of her head. Contentment flooded him and he soon was asleep.
Catherine closed her eyes and thought about the things that had transpired in the last few weeks. How she had gone from feeling nothing, to feeling the intensity of Grissom’s love. As sleep claimed her, she knew now that things had changed and that everything would be fine.

Apr 27, 08 at 10:31 amGreat and fun to read! This story is full of angst, drama and romance. The last chapter is salacious. I really like your portrayal of Gil’s train of thoughts on his relationship with Sara and Catherine… it’s so convincing. Hope the writers will realize their chemistry too!
